About the Artist
Mee Jey is a multidisciplinary Indian artist. She earned an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis, a master’s degree in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University and an MPhil in Liberal Arts from Ambedkar University in Delhi.Her contributions to society through art have been recognized with many honors, including a USA States Fellowship LFP, McDonnell International Scholarship, Creative Lab Fellow at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the St. Louis Visionary Emerging Artist Award, and the International Mother Art Prize (UK).
Mee Jey’s works have been exhibited across India and the United States, as well as in Europe in London and Greece, at venues including the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Middlesex University in London (UK), Kansas State University, Kranzberg Arts Foundation, Laumeier Sculpture Park, the Fiber Art Now magazine Excellence in Fibers VIII exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, and many more. Jey has also led a relational traveling art project, ARTOLOGUE: ART FOR ALL, since 2013. Involving community as her co-creator, this project focuses on firsthand creative experience regardless of the background of the host community. Jey has painted with prisoners, police officers, and disabled people, among many more communities.
Currently, Mee Jey is exhibiting a specially commissioned art installation for the third Counterpublic Triennial in St. Louis. If you travel to St. Louis, you can see works by Mee Jey at the St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Terminal 1.
