Department of Art & Art History Scholarships

To apply for these and other scholarships, submit applications through the Auburn University Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM).

The 2024 deadline for scholarships is March 1.

Please note: graduating seniors are not eligible for scholarships but should refer to the Awards section below for application opportunities.

  • The Joanna Campbell Blake Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts with a declared major in Studio Art (BA or BFA) and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or a minimum ACT score of 24 for an incoming student. Preference is given to Alabama residents who demonstrate financial need. However, if a student from Alabama cannot be identified, the scholarship may be awarded to a qualified student from Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, or Florida.
  • The Nancy Jane Griffith Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts with a declared major in art, music or theatre, with preference to students with a declared major in art (including art history) who demonstrate financial need.
  • The Roslyn Brock Stern Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts with a declared major in Studio Art (BA or BFA) or Art History (BA in Art with formal option in Art History) and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to those who demonstrate financial need.
  • The Arthur Brooke Turk Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts with a declared major in Studio Art (BA or BFA) or Art History (BA in Art with formal option in Art History) and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to those who demonstrate financial need.

 

 


Department of Art & Art History Awards

The Department of Art & Art History honors excellent student work with annual awards and inclusion in annual juried shows. Current students are encouraged to apply for departmental awards. Directions on how to apply can be found on the application form. Application deadline is February 1 at 4:45 pm.

  • The Student Achievement Award in Studio Art is presented by the Department of Art & Art History to an art major (BA in Studio Art or BFA in Studio Art) with a minimum overall 3.0 GPA. Applicants must demonstrate consistent noteworthy achievement in more than one instructional area (for example, painting/printmaking/sculpture, or drawing/photography/three-dimensional design, or any combination of two or more different areas).
  • The Student Achievement Award in Art History is presented by the Department of Art & Art History to an art history major BA in Art (formal option Art History) with a minimum overall 3.0 GPA. Applicants must demonstrate noteworthy achievement in art history writing and scholarship.
  • The Art & Art History Study Abroad Award(s), when available, provide funds to deserving students participating in the Art in Rome or Art in Paris study abroad summer programs. To be eligible to apply, students must have completed at least 30 credit hours at Auburn and have an unadjusted cumulative AU GPA of at least 3.0. Preference is given to students with demonstrated financial need and outstanding academic credentials. The Study Abroad Award helps defray the tuition and fees cost of the program.
  • The Frank Applebee Memorial Endowed Award is an annual prize awarded to a graduating senior enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts with a declared major in art (BA in Studio Art or BFA in Studio Art). Students will be nominated by the faculty and the Chair of the Department of Art & Art History.
  • The Raeford B. Liles Annual Awards are two awards given to outstanding senior art students for the purpose of providing art supplies. Students will be nominated by the faculty and the Chair of the Department of Art & Art History. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need.

College of Liberal Arts Scholarships

There are three kinds of competitive College of Liberal Arts Scholarships for which all CLA undergraduates may apply.
