Solo exhibition featuring works by Kathleen Thum.
September 5 – 30, 2024
In Covering Carbon, Kathleen Thum explores the complex relationship between humans and fossil fuels. Large-scale cut-paper installations depict the vastness of the petroleum infrastructure, evoking the physical and emotional experience of the petroleum landscape. Drawings and cut-paper wall installations examine the physical, material qualities of coal and oil. Fossil fuels are an integral part of our lives, yet remain mysterious and unknown substances, contained and controlled by the industry. Through different visual and conceptual approaches, this exhibition highlights the power and impact of fossil fuels on our contemporary existence.
