2023 Juried Fine Art Student Exhibition

March 20 – 31, 2023

Biggin Gallery’s annual Juried Fine Art Student Exhibition features selected works by current art students, with an awards presentation featuring the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and a distinguished visiting juror. Included works are eligible for numerous awards, including the Dean’s Choice Purchase Award, the Davis-Frye Annual Award in Art, and the Department of Art & Art History Merit Awards.

 

Exhibition Entry Deadline: 5:00pm, March 13, 2023

Students enrolled in Fall 2022 and/or Spring 2023 semester ARTS classes in the Department of Art & Art History are invited to enter up to three artworks in the 2023 Juried Fine Art Student Exhibition.

March 1–13, drop off entries in Biggin Gallery 8am–4:45pm, Monday–Friday. Submit online form and images by 5:00pm on March 13. These times are strict, and late entries will NOT be accepted.

Juror's Lecture, Presentation of Awards and Reception

When: Monday, March 20, 2023, 5:00-7:00 pm CDT

Where: Juror's Lecture and Presentation of Awards in 005 Biggin Hall; Reception in Biggin Gallery, 101 Biggin Hall

This event is free and open to the public. 005 Biggin Hall and Biggin Gallery are handicap accessible.

 

About the Juror

Jamaal Barber is a creative, imaginative soul who was born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina. In 2013, after seeing a screen printing demo at a local art store, Barber started experimenting with printmaking and made it his primary focus. Barber completed his MFA in Printmaking at Georgia State University. His woodcuts and mixed media prints can be seen on display at ZuCot Gallery. They have also been included in the Decatur Arts Festival, Atlanta Print Biennial Show and at various art shows around the Metro Atlanta area. Additionally, Barber has done work for Twitter, the New York Times, Penguin Random House, Black Art in America and Emory University.

In 2004, Jamaal Barber moved to Atlanta, GA where he now resides with his wife and two children. Barber is the host of Studio Noize, a weekly art podcast featuring conversations with Black artists and creators around the world.
