Aging, Brain and Communication Disorders (ABCD) Lab in Auburn University

About Us

The Aging, Brain, and Communication Disorders (ABCD) Lab, led by Dr. JungMoon Hyun,
aims to understand the relationship between aging, cognition, and communication.

We investigate age-related changes in speech, language, and cognitive abilities, examining how these systems function independently, or interact and compensate for one another.

By understanding these mechanisms, we strive to inform prevention and intervention strategies for individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, ultimately improving each person’s quality of life.

Research Interests

  • Age related changes on speech, language, and cognition.
  • Cognitive flexibility in diverse populations
  • Intervention effects on communication and cognitive disorders
  • Neural mechanisms underlying language and cognitive changes in adults
