Awards and Scholarships

Students applying to Auburn University should explore all scholarship sources at the University, College and Department levels. Auburn University provides various scholarships for eligible students through the Auburn University Scholarship Manager (AUSOM). All students must apply through AUSOM and adhere to the published deadlines in order to receive scholarship consideration. Georgia G. Vallery Award

This award is given to an outstanding psychology senior during the spring semester at the Department of Psychological Sciences' Teaching and Research Festival. Students are nominated by the faculty for this award. The undergraduate program director will contact nominated students.

Health-Related Professions Scholarship, College of Liberal Arts

All eligible students should apply through AUSOM in order to receive scholarship consideration. In addition to general scholarship information, students must submit a 200-word description of their professional goals as they relate to health professions. Students will be required to submit a current vita or resume in the system.

Eligibility Criteria: Currently enrolled as Psychology major with Junior or Senior status at the time of application (junior status must be attained with the credits completed during the preceding spring semester). Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater. Student must be enrolled as a Psychology major for a minimum of two semesters after receiving the award.

Sam Long Hutchison Scholarship, College of Liberal Arts

All eligible students should apply through AUSOM in order to receive scholarship consideration. In addition to general scholarship information, students must submit a 200-word description of their professional goals as they relate to psychology. Students will be required to submit a current vita (resume) in the system.

Eligibility Criteria: Currently enrolled as Psychology major. Senior status at the time of application (status determined by credit hours completed during the preceding spring semester). Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater. Student must be enrolled as a Psychology major for a minimum of two semesters after receiving the award.

Conference Travel for Support for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students who will be attending a research conference may apply for financial support from the Department of Psychological Sciences to help with travel costs. To be eligible for support, a student must be a first or second author on a presentation or poster that will be presented at the conference. To apply for travel support, please complete the Undergraduate Travel Support form. After the form has been submitted and the student’s faculty mentor has confirmed the details of the submission, the student will receive an email with additional information about receiving the requested support. Please note that the availability of undergraduate travel support is contingent upon the availability of departmental resources at the time the request is made.
