Department of Music
Giving Opportunities

Annual Giving

Each year, the Department of Music is able to offer financial support to remarkable students in part through the generous support of individual donors. Gifts of all amounts help to make possible the musical education of students from Alabama and beyond through the general music fund. Contributions are used for a variety of needs including competitive student scholarships based on talent, need and/or academic achievement. Additionally, funds can be used for instrument acquisition, facility improvement, guest artists and lecturers, and other areas of need that contribute to a rich learning environment.

Gifts can be in various forms, such as cash, securities, real estate or personal property. Checks should be made payable to the AU Foundation and mailed to 317 S. College St., Auburn, AL 36849. To make a gift online and contribute to the success of the Department of Music, please follow this link to the online giving form.

Scholarships, Awards and Endowments

Endowed funds can significantly provide for the Department of Music’s financial strength and stability. An endowed gift is one that is held in perpetuity. The gift is invested, with portions of the earned interest used for donor-specified purposes. The principal is preserved, and the remaining interest is returned to the investment to offset inflation. In a sense, it is the gift that keeps on giving. The funds of these generous gifts are used as directed by the donor. Such areas include scholarships and awards, facility enhancement and additions and instrument or technology acquisition.

Endowed scholarships are one of the best ways to make a difference in a music school. This is beneficial for both the student and school alike. While the student benefits from the financial assistance, the school is maintaining its commitment to excellence by attracting high-quality students. The Department of Music is always delighted to be able to financially assist deserving students in their musical and academic endeavors.
