The Bachelor of Music Education (Instrumental, Voice, or Piano) degree is designed for undergraduate students who intend to prepare for careers in instrumental, vocal, and general music as teachers for grades N-12 (PK-12). An audition is required to begin applied study.
The degree focuses on a study of skills for music performance, the technical mechanics of music, music in historical perspective, music education methods and techniques, and educational foundations. Students learn collaborative interaction, study music of a variety of cultures, develop the ability to communicate effectively as music educators, and achieve a high standard of performance and technical skill.
- Although the Music Education degree is housed within the College of Education prospective students still must complete a successful audition with the Department of Music.
