Q: Which class has been your favorite at Auburn so far?
A: So far, my favorite class at Auburn is Public Relations Case Studies. In the class we had the opportunity to study actual PR cases and whether or not they succeeded or failed. It has given me a lot of insight on the type of work I want to do once I graduate.
Q: What is the best technology based resource at Auburn?
A: The career center lets you email someone your resume, and they will send you a video back of an actual person reviewing it and editing it, while talking through why they are making certain changes. This was a life saver for me because I don't always have time to make an appointment and get over there in person. The video wasn't too long and was extremely helpful when I was applying for internships.
Q: What do you wish someone had told you before you started as a student at Auburn?
A: You don't always have to buy your textbooks at the Auburn Bookstore. There are some great options there, but by the time I was a junior I realized that Amazon offered great deals to rent textbooks for the semester. I saved a lot of money not having to worry about buying every single book, especially if it was one I knew I wouldn't use for future classes. Also, wait until you go to the first class before buying your books. Sometimes teachers will recommend a book but won't require you buy it. It's better to wait and hear it from them in class.
Q: Where are your favorite places to study on campus?
A: Unless I am working on a group project, I prefer to go other places besides the library. Recently, my new favorite place has become the third floor in the student center. They completely redid it and turned it into a private study area for students. There are several individual desks with comfy chairs, charging outlets, a side table and a lamp! It's the perfect spot for when I know I need to get something done and really focus without distractions from other people.
Q: How do you balance your social and academic obligations?
A: Honestly, having a planner where I actually write down school assignments and social plans for the week really helps me stay organized! My friends are half the reason I love Auburn so much and I want to make sure I have time for them outside of school work. I started doing this in high school and will keep doing it once I graduate and land a job!
