Phi Alpha – Social Work Honor Society
The purposes of Phi Alpha Honor Society are to provide a closer bond among students of social work and to promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Students who have been fully accepted into the Social Work program, completed at least 9 semester hours of required social work courses including the successful completion of SOWO4060 Methods I with a B or better and have a GPA of 3.50 in these classes, with an overall institutional GPA of 3.0 are eligible for membership of the Tau Gamma Chapter of Phi Alpha. This chapter of the National Social Work Honor Society holds a yearly initiation ceremony jointly each spring with the Tau Theta Chapter at Tuskegee University. The initiates work closely with the Auburn University Association of Social Workers (AASSW) and the faculty to sponsor educational programs and community projects.
