Speech, Language, and Literacy Achievement for Children

Our Mission

The Speech, Language and Literacy Achievement for Children Lab's (SLLAC) mission is to promote academic achievement for children who are at risk for literacy difficulties.

The SLLAC Lab's research aims to:

  1. Understand strengths and deficits in children with speech sound disorders to create a comprehensive profile of speech, language, and literacy abilities.
  2. Use the comprehensive profiles to develop intervention strategies that will improve children's speech and language deficits and reduce the risk of literacy difficulty.

Our Values

The SLLAC Lab strives to create belonging and opportunity for all! The following principles inform and guide our lab members’ decisions and behaviors:

  1. Demonstrate Respect. We strive to have and demonstrate equal respect for all members, collaborators, and participants of the SLLAC Lab.
  2. Communicate effectively. We use open, honest, and respectful communication throughout all aspects of the lab.
  3. Be committed. We are committed to our research, personal growth and all those involved in our research mission.
  4. Learn together. We provide a space to learn and grow as a group and individually.
