Rene McEldowney is a Professor in the Health Services Administration program. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Health Care Policy from Virginia Tech State University, Blacksburg VA, a post doctorial fellowship at Oxford University , an MBA from Marshall University and a B.S. in Health Physics. She has been teaching at Auburn University since 1992, holds a dual appointment in the College of Business and teaches in the Public Health program in the College of Veterinary Medicine. She is on editorial board for Health Administration Press, the Auburn University Budget Committee, and the Post-Tenure Review board. Dr. McEldowney also has extensive professional experience at both the international and national level.
Her primary teaching, research interests and expertise are in Health Care Finance, Comparative Health Systems, Value Based Care, and Health Insurance.
Dr. McEldowney is a Nuffield Research Fellow and a member of the College of Liberal Arts Academy of Teaching and Outstanding Teachers. She has received numerous research grants and has published over 20 research publications and co-authored the book Health Care Financial Crisis.
