Former English faculty member passes away
Kathy McClelland, a former English faculty member and instructional technology manager, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1. She was 70 years old. In the English department, McClelland held the position of instructor and assistant director of freshman composition. In that role, she was charged with training and mentoring GTAs and new faculty in writing instruction, establishing and maintaining best practices in the core writing program, and working closely with composition coordinators. McClelland also held various IT administrative roles at Auburn University.
She is survived by her husband, John Hagerty, who was also a longtime Instructor in the English department. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, 1801 Frederick Road, Opelika, from 3 pm to 6 pm. McClelland's full obituary can be found here.
