Powells Lead Choirs at Lincoln Center, NYC
Dr. William Powell, director of choral activities, has brought the Auburn University Chamber Choir to perhaps their biggest stage yet. The Chamber Choir, along with other choirs around the hemisphere, will perform Dr. Rosephanye Powell’s The Cry of Jeremiah at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in New York City on Saturday, May 10. Rosephanye was chosen by The American Guild of Organists to compose a biblically based piece. Auburn students have performed this piece before, but they have not performed at a venue of this significance. The married professors will share the stage tomorrow night: him conducting the choir and her narrating the movements. The mixed choir is made up of students from Auburn University, Winston Salem State University, the College of the Bahamas, and Wellington High School.
