Jesse Strickland


Jesse Strickland has his undergraduate degree in music from Auburn University. After graduating, he worked as composer in residence at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, where he set many sacred texts for choir and orchestra. In 2018, he received an MM in Composition from the University of South Carolina, having focused primarily on works for choir, and chamber ensembles – including a woodwind quintet, a clarinet sonata, and a string quartet. His works have been performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

In 2015, he started a video series on YouTube called Two Minute Music Theory as a free resource for music educators and music students. The series has gained over 1,000,000 views in 122 countries. Over the last five years, over 75 videos have been added to the series, covering topics from the fundamentals of music all the way to the basics of Post-Tonal Analysis. In 2018, he added a History of Music series, which has already garnered the attention of International Ministries of Education.
