Byul Nim “Bea” La serves as a collaborative pianist at Auburn University Department of Music. She holds a D.M.A. (A performer's perspective on A Bach Book for Harriet Cohen: Transcriptions for Pianoforte from the Works of J.S. Bach, 2018)from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she studied with William Heiles. Her solo performances have received praise from the UI piano faculty and from Menahem Pressler and, Richard Goode both whom she was chosen to play for in their master classes.  As a collaborator, she has worked with both undergraduate and graduate students as a coach/pianist in the UI opera division, and as an accompanying assistant in choral classes and voice and instrumental studios. She has her master degree in solo piano performance from New York University Steinhardt School, where she taught piano lessons to undergraduate students for two years as an adjunct faculty member.
