Food hub offers healthy connections
Food hub offers healthy connections

Dr. Frannie Koe, a family physician in Collinsville loves to share her a passion for organic farming and sustainability. In fact, she loves it so much she devoted space in her medical clinic to offer tomatoes, cucumbers and more on Tuesday afternoons. Describing the hub, Koe said, “It’s like a farmers’ market except we match local organic and sustainable farmers with families who want to buy local produce in the community.”

The Bookworm Connects Communities with Books

The Marengo County Library in Linden serves the people of the city and county by providing access to books, computers and more. The library’s Bookworm program is expanding services beyond the walls of the library. This program, started in September of 2016, delivers books door-to-door to people who are elderly, handicapped, or disabled.

Granna's Sweet Treats offers cool relief in hot summer
Granna's Sweet Treats offers cool relief in hot summer

In Alabama, you can always count on two things every summer: heat and humidity. A new business in Collinsville, Granna’s Sweet Treats, is now open to provide guests with some sweet relief. On a recent Friday afternoon, it was more than 90 degrees after a summer rain storm. The sun was out, and steam was coming off the mountain in Collinsville, intensifying the humidity. That is when I noticed a bright green sign that said “Granna’s Sweet Treats”.
