Ruth Fountain Heard Scholarship

The Ruth Fountain Heard Scholarship will be awarded to a rising senior history major who, in the opinion of the History Department Scholarship Committee, has an outstanding record of academic accomplishment.

The Scholarship was established by Joseph Kicklighter, Professor of History, in loving memory of his aunt and guardian, Ruth Fountain Heard (1915–1992) who devoted her life to her family and church. Adopting her nephew at the age of nine, Mrs. Heard was a major influence on his life and career throughout her life.

The Heard Scholarship will provide for the honoree up to $4,000 in the final year of his or her studies.
