I am writing for my life! I am a professional and creative writer with a background in creative writing, journalism, technical and professional communication and teaching college. In addition to being a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) at Auburn, I am now an Instructor of English Composition 1100 & 1120. I am also a graduate student pursuing the Graduate Certificate in University/College Teaching through the Higher Education Department. When I am not teaching here at Auburn, I serve as both an Instructor and Writing Coach at Southern Union State Community College.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA, my Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing from Southern Polytechnic State University/Kennesaw State University, and intend to graduate spring 2019 with my Master’s Degree and Graduate Certificate. I am hopeful to start PhD studies in the fall of 2019. My research interests include usability, curriculum and course design, critical pedagogy, professional development and entrepreneurship.
Through my work here at Auburn, I have taught 250 students, recruited participants in a usability study, created work in the TPC program that I am extremely proud of, created an Academic Plan, and co-authored a book chapter on moving beyond neoliberalism and behaviorism in the classroom. I even submitted my business concept in the annual Tiger Cage Competition; an Auburn-wide competition that allows Auburn students the opportunity to submit their business concepts with the hope of getting funding and in-kind services to make their business concepts a reality!
