Opelika Main Street Internship

Fall internships available with Opelika Main Street, a nationally recognized non- profit organiza5on dedicated to revitalizing Historic Downtown Opelika, Alabama. No two days at Main Street are the same, and interns will gain experience with whatever they are passionate about, whether it's press releases, working events, social media, graphic design, or any other PR and communication tasks that nonprofits in small towns face. Expect the unexpected: you could run events, hand out maps, attend lunch meetings, design fliers and brochures or help brainstorm for different ways to integrate social media into events and organizations. Main Street Intern RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research, plan and execute weekly, monthly and annual events and meettings

Design newsletters, social media posts, fliers, posters, news releases and other promo5onal items

Generate awareness, support and event attendance through integrating social media publicity

Plan, design, promote and work at all Main Street events Meet with merchants to supplement social media campaigns

Assist in planning and implementation of marketing events for merchants

Constant review of merchant micro-pages on Opelika Main Street website and social media forums with recommended improvements

Work with local marketing agency to create digital advertising campaigns

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic understanding of how social media platforms work

Ability to promote Opelika Main Street and members through social media

Have a positive attitude and willingness to expect the unexpected day-to-day
