Madison Kimel: Skydance Media

Madison Kimel (MDIA) Interned at Skydance Media

Hello! My name is Madison Kimel and I am from Birmingham, AL. I am about to graduate from Auburn with duel degrees in Art History and Media Studies with a minor in International Human Studies

This past summer I interned with Skydance Media’s TV Development team in Santa Monica, CA. As a part of my internship, I wrote coverage for books/ scripts, researched potential episodic material, performed administrative tasks, and covered desks for both presidential and executive level individuals.

My internship at Skydance taught me a lot about the industry and how to get my foot in the door. Like any internship, it is extremely important to make connections and learn as much as you can. I look forward to continuing my journey here in Los Angeles as I have accepted a job at Brillstein Entertainment in Beverly Hills.

My advice to anyone preparing for, or looking at internships, is to start researching early! Begin looking at the programs you may want to apply for semesters in advancetherefore you are prepared when the time comes. Also, apply early! Submit your application as soon as the internships become available. Handshake and LinkedIn are your friends, use them! Finding a good internship is hard work and sometimes discouraging. You have to be motivated and remember that your worth does not rest in what companies think about you.
