Mike Clardy is the director of communications and media relations at Auburn University and teaches Writing for Public Relations in the School of Communication and Journalism. He has more than 24 years of experience in higher education advancement, news, integrated marketing and public relations, the last 16 of which have been spent in Auburn’s Office of Communications and Marketing.

Clardy directs a 10-member team that manages internal and external communications through news and web development. He serves as the university’s primary spokesman and leads the university’s media relations efforts. Clardy is a member of the university’s crisis management team and has been trained in emergency communications on the local, state and national levels by FEMA, TEEX and others.

Before coming to Auburn in 1998, Clardy anchored and reported television news at NBC and Fox affiliates for seven years in Corpus Christi and Laredo, Texas. His marketing experience includes stints with the Atlanta Braves and public relations firm The Headline Group.

Clardy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Mass Communication from the University of Georgia.
