Anthony is an instructor in the School of Communication and Journalism at Auburn University. He received his bachelor’s degree in media studies from Auburn in 2009. After a stint in radio, Anthony became a firefighter for the City of Opelika. While working as a firefighter, Anthony spent his off-duty hours acquiring his master’s degree in communication from Auburn.

In addition to firefighting, Anthony has experience in the private sector as a small business owner where he co-managed a gym for five years. He also taught fitness class for Southern Union State Community College. Additionally, Anthony has experience as a freelance writer for the Opelika Auburn News and The Corner News for six years.

Anthony is a proponent of active learning and encourages student participation in class. He is currently working towards his PhD in Moving Images at Georgia State University. His research interests include fandom studies, nerd culture, and the science fiction and comic book movie genres.
