Let Canvas Drop the Lowest Score

Let Canvas Drop the Lowest Score

Do you ever drop the lowest or highest scores for student pop quizzes?  Or perhaps drop the lowest three homework grades, but make sure that they are only the smaller assignments?  Canvas makes this process easy.  If you are using Assignment Groups to help calculate the student grades, you can add  "Grading Rules" to the group.  Just edit the Assignment Group by clicking on the pencil icon.  Click "add grading rule" and choose between "Drop the Lowest" "Drop the Highest" and "Never Drop."  For the first two, you will specify how many of these scores to drop.  If you select "Never Drop," you will be prompted to select the particular assignment that should never be dropped from the grade calculations, even if it is the lowest or highest score for a student.  You can even have more than one rule in a group.  The gradebook uses shading so you can tell exactly which assignments have been dropped for each student.
