David Odom is a professor of clarinet and coordinator of woodwind studies at Auburn University. In addition to teaching the clarinet majors at Auburn, he gives master classes and clinics across the U.S. on subjects including clarinet performance and audition preparation. He has presented or performed at the conferences of the International Clarinet Association, College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association, and National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors.

Odom has maintained an active performing career while teaching which has led him across four continents. Known for his "beautifully rich tone," he has been featured on television and radio, including broadcasts on WDAV Charlotte, GPB Atlanta, WABE Atlanta, and Brazilian TV Cultura. His debut solo recording with pianist Jeremy Samolesky, Max Reger: Complete Works for Clarinet and Piano, was released by Albany Records to critical acclaim. He has also recorded with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and the Atlanta Opera Orchestra. Recent performances include a concerto appearance with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and his Spivey Hall debut recital. Other notable performances include the Festival Internacional de Música de Campina Grande in Brazil and numerous International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest performances, including one in Madrid, Spain.
