Rochelle Ramga

Rochelle Ramga, a PhD candidate, is a native of Ohio. She received her BA in English from Ohio Wesleyan University, taught school, owned and operated a small business, and served a supervisor of social services and foster care for twenty years. She then returned to school and received her MA in history from Wright State University in the Spring of 2002.

At Auburn , Rochelle's major area of study has been Early America with a focus on the Civil War Era with major professors Drs. Kenneth Noe and Anthony Carey. Her minor areas of study were Modern America and the Atlantic World with Drs. Ruth Crocker and Marie Francois.

Rochelle's dissertation in progress under the direction of Dr. Noe focuses on an extended family living in Ohio and Virginia during the Civil War, their efforts to prevent and then end the war, and their struggle to maintain contact across the lines. In the spring of 2007, Rochelle was honored to receive the Milo B. Howard Research Award and the Edna Floyd Booth Award for Graduate Research.
