James Sanders Day (Auburn History Ph.D., 2002)wrote his dissertation under the direction, "Diamonds in the Rough: A History of Alabama's Cahaba Coal Field," under the direction of Professor J. Wayne Flynt. He is an Assistant Professor of History at Montevallo University teaching U.S. history, southern history, the history of technology, and military history.
