Christopher Alvin Blackburn (Auburn History Ph.D., 1996) wrote his dissertation, "Napoleon and the Szlachta: The Reconstitution of an Elite," under the direction of Professors Donna Bohanan and Gordon Bond.

In 1991 he defended his thesis on "The Formation of the Duchy of Warsaw, 1806-1808."
