What can I do with a foreign language degree?

A proficiency in a language other than English will not only help you stand out in the job market, but it will also help you thrive in today's global society. From business and communications to health care and law, you'll possess the communication and cultural competency skills employers look for in their applicants.

Internships and Practicums

Our faculty will work with you to develop an individualized curriculum related to a professional internship experience. Alongside your career internship, you'll have the opportunity to earn course credit toward your language degree. This combination of a high-impact professional experience with language-learning maximizes the practical application of linguistic and intercultural competencies, giving you a real-life edge in the labor market.

Interdisciplinary Research

Interdisciplinary research gives you the opportunity to work closely with individual faculty members on specialized and original projects. You'll receive valuable one-on-one mentoring from our faculty, who will help bring your scholarly or creative project from a concept to fruition. Such collaborative efforts have led to poster presentations at conferences, 3-minute thesis competition, published creative and scholarly works and performances in the target language of study.
