About Me

Liliana V. Stern joined Auburn University in August 2006, after completing her graduate studies at Indiana University. A native of Ukraine, Stern also earned a master's degree in economics from the leading program sponsored by Eurasia Foundation and World Bank in Kiev, Ukraine. Her most recent research has focused on state-space models of money demand, instability issues, and optimal monetary policy. She is also interested in stock markets and their role in monetary policy. Stern teaches Macroeconomics and Money and Banking at Auburn. She is also a co-director of the Economics Club. Before enrolling in the PhD program at Indiana University, she worked as a consultant at HIID (Harvard Institute for International Development) in Kiev, Ukraine. Her main responsibilities included analyzing the Ukrainian banking industry and international trade, as well as policy advising on monetary and fiscal policy. She has worked closely with officials at the Ukraine's Finance Ministry and the central bank.

Research Interests
