About Me

Henry Thompson focuses on international trade theory. His research published in over 130 articles ranks in the top 5% in Research Papers in Economics. The 5th edition of his textbook International Economics: Global Markets and Competition is forthcoming. He has given over 150 seminars and professional presentations, chaired 18 doctoral dissertations, and directed 16 master’s theses. Thompson is an honorary and founding member of the International Economics and Finance Society IEFS and Head of the ATINER Economics Unit. He also consults in energy economics. Thompson finished his PhD in 1981 with Roy Ruffin as chair at the University of Houston. He and his artist wife Madeline Simos spend part of the year in Greece. Their daughter Stacy works in human resources in Houston, and son Alexi in the Economics Department at South Carolina State University.
